Once these questions have been answered and you find a dress or 2 that you like, there are still more questions you have to ask. Be wary of any shop that will not give you straight answers or written guesses. When you believe you have found just the right dress, ask if they can hold it for a day or 2, then return home wait at least 34 hours and go back for another look. If you continue to adore it, then go right ahead and purchase it. On the other hand, if your ma, bridesmaid in chief, sales clerk or pal thinks a dress is ideal and you aren’t sure, use the same methodology.

If a dress just doesn’t seem right or you simply do not like it don’t yield to pressure from the store staff, chums or maybe Mom. After you have selected your marriage dress, the clerk or the store’s seamstress will take measurements of your bust, waist and hips, and determine if the dress should be taken up. You may also have to go in for fittings, typically at least 3 times. Confirm, if your alterations are not free, that you get a written estimate.

The sales staff should be in a position to help you in selecting a headpiece that goes with your dress. Veils come in many lengths and styles, and again the staff will help you pick which is best for you. The veil you select for your marriage depends on the dress you have selected. If you are wearing a street length casual style dress you would not select a cathedral or chapel veil, each of which trail the floor. By the same rule you would not wear a flyaway veil, which hardly brushes the shoulders, with a formal dress with a train.
